AMELIAROSE CERAMICs

Amelia’s work explores the relationship between form and function creating bespoke objects that capture the individuality of handmade juxtaposing classical forms with experimental surfaces as a contemporary take on the ancient practice. Her ceramics are strongly influenced by her surrounding environments. After studying Fine Art at Falmouth University, she found herself repeatedly drawn to the Cornish coastline with reference to colours and textures throughout her work. Inspired by Impressionist ideals her aim is for her pieces to capture a fleeting moment and the essence of an environment. Evoking a romanticised sense of place and nostalgia. Experimenting with raw materials collect from the environment, combining, glazes, oxides and natural materials, has allowed her to shape the raw earth into new forms, embedded with narrative reflecting the clay’s organic origins.
