Jane Hunt loves candles. When she was living in France, she won a candle-making book in an auction and that sparked the idea of her creating her own. And so she did! Bougies D’Aquitaine began in 2018 from Jane’s home in the Dordogne. ‘Bougies’ is the French word for candles and ‘D’Aquitaine’ means ‘of Aquitaine’, the region in which she lived. After 10 years in France, Jane moved back to the UK in March 2020, just as COVID began to manifest. Due to complications with travel and removals, she and her husband spent 3 months in the UK without any possessions or furniture, including her candlemaking kit! However, thankfully, everything came right and Jane is happily building up a customer base in The Cotswolds. From the production, branding, labelling, packing, posting, marketing and advertising, Jane does this all herself. ‘You never know what you are capable of until you try’ is one of her mantras. Jane prides herself on the high quality of her candles. Unlike many, her candles burn evenly and cleanly, with the scent staying put until the end of the burn.
