Talent with Textiles

Kate Clowes has been crafting for 20 years after retiring from her job as a primary school teacher where her CDT came into its own. Officially CDT is Craft Design and Technology but for her it stands for turning ‘Can’t Do This’ into ‘Can Do This’, nothing is beyond imagination. After visiting a David Hockney exhibition she was inspired to look at trees and textures in different ways. She had no official training but just loved using different materials, even down to dying her own background fabric. She uses paint, thread and buttons and beads as embellishments Kate joined Craft in Action in July 2018 with her very first fair being a Chipping Campden. Her items includes pictures and notebooks and she delights in telling people about her PHD, not as you might think in the academic world but as part of a group of friends who have ‘Projects Half Finished’. Having seven grandchildren keeps her occupied when they visit as they want to do “Popsey things” and it’s usually craft related
